Top 10 Tips for Having a Pet at Your Wedding
It is amazing how attached people can become attached to their pets.Who would not want to include their pet on one of the most important day in their life. Can it happen? Of course but it does take planning and add another expense to your wedding day.
So here are my top ten tips for having your pet at your wedding.
- The venue and church must be contacted to see if pets are allowed inside the church or venue. If a pet is permitted, check and see if there are any additional fees associated with the request. Are there any designated bath room area for the dog or pet?
- Allergies: It is a great idea to check and see if anyone in the bridal party is allergic to your pet or have a fear of your pet.
- Pet Interaction. Your pet should have a temperament conducive to interaction with your guests. You would also not want your pet to be jumping all over your white wedding dress.
- Logistics. Planning is key here. You must consider how your pet is moved from location to location.
- Hire a pet sitter. This will be one less thing to worry about on your wedding day!!! You sitter can take your pet home after the ceremony- watch them during the reception- feed, water, and clean up after your pet.
- Wedding attire. Some animals like people hate to get all dressed up. Make sure your pet is able to adapt to the clothing you pick out. Sometimes you may need to pick out a simpler piece of clothing for your pet.
- Save the Date Cards/Announcements.. Best sure to include your pet on the save the date card or announcement. It will give your guests a heads up for any potential allergic reactions to your pet. Some people have a fear of certain pets.
- Let your photographer know what kind of pet will be involved in your wedding. Hopefully they are not allergic to your pet and it will give them some time to plan for your wedding images.
- If you can not bring your pet to the ceremony or venue, you can still include them in portraits after the ceremony
- There is not much worse than a smelly pet.. Have your pet groomed so they look and smell great on your wedding day. Your designated pet planner or sitter can help you with this.
I hope so for these tips can make your wedding day with you pet go smoothly.
